I Recently Started Watching Mob Psycho 100

A few days ago, I finished watching the first season of Mob Psycho 100 and it was an experience, to say the least. I don’t know why I waited until 2023 to start watching Mob Psycho but I’m glad I did. I’m late to the hype train but decided it was a good time to start the anime because the third and final season came out in the fall of 2022. Usually, with most anime, there are a few people who have very strong negative opinions about said series but I have rarely ever heard negative things about Mob Psycho which is what intrigued me to finally watch it. Let’s talk about the series that is beloved by so many anime fans around the world.

Mob Psycho is about our protagonist Shigeo Kageyama (also known as Mob) who is a middle schooler gifted with immense psychic powers. Mob is an introvert and has a hard time connecting with his peers but what makes him special is how powerful he is with his powers regardless of lacking in his physical attributes. Mob believes that his powers don’t make him more special than people who excel in art or academics which is a healthy mindset to have and makes us like his character even more. Mob has a part-time job where he kills evil spirits for a living with his master Reigen Arataka, another main character, and sometimes the comedic relief of the series. Reigen can’t use psychic powers but acts like he’s one of the best psychics of the generation. Reigen as a character is pretty essential in Mob’s growth and how he learns to view the world from what I gathered in season one. He’s a very lovable character and funny in a deadpan kind of way.

Mob Psycho 100 was made by the same creator as One Punch Man which makes the art style and animation unique. While One Punch Man is more of an action series with a lot of comedy, Mob Psycho is more emotional and hits you in the feels at times. Mob sometimes loses control of his psychic powers when his emotions are provoked through the different fights in the season. Each time he hits 100 percent we experience a different emotion whether it be rage, sadness, envy, the list goes on. Through each of these trials and tribulations, we see Mob learn as well as grow and I think that’s what makes this series so special. There are so many other great characters and moments that happen in Mob Psycho. Mob Psycho truly deserves all the love & hype that it gets, it’s definitely worth the watch.
