Spy x Family: Wholesome Family Fun

Loid Forger, pretend father during the day, and a major spy working for a major intelligence agency at night. Yor Forger, pretend mother during the day and an assassin during the night. Anya Forger, pretend daughter and secretly a telepath who can read people’s minds and know how they’re feeling without them knowing. These three are our main characters and a pretend family living in the capital city of Ostania. They all keep their secrets from each other but come across to everyone else as a perfect family. Welcome to the world of Spy x Family.

The story of Spy x Family starts with Loid Forger who works for a government intelligence family as a spy. One day he gets a major mission known as operation strix because tensions are high between the nations of Westalis and Ostania. War might strike out between these nations so Loid’s mission is to start a family, have a daughter, and send her to a prestigious school. Why? you may ask; because the son of Desmond, who is the president of the national unity party of Ostania goes to this school. Loid’s mission is to get close to Desmond and kill him in order to prevent war from breaking out between these nations. Since having a daughter isn’t the best course of action, Loid decides to adopt and finds Anya at an adoption center. Then Loid goes on his search for a wife and he runs into Yor at a clothing store while trying to get a school uniform tailored for Anya. Yor leads a secret life as an assassin because when she was pretty young, she lost her parents and had a brother to take care of. Loid and Yor hit it off and through a series of events that happen and Loid asks Yor to move in with him. Yor agrees because she’s 27 and her coworkers make fun of her for not having a boyfriend/significant other. Now we have our 3 main characters. Thus sets off the main series of events that happen in the series.

You’ll have to watch the anime for yourself if you want to find out more about what happens but I can tell you if you’re looking for something different or just a wholesome and fun series to watch then this is the one for you. The dynamic between our pretend family is fun and just like you would expect a healthy family to be. Loid, Yor, and Anya learn and grow from each other to be characters that we connect with as the series goes on. A spy, an assassin, and a telepath carrying out their missions acting as a pretend family. It’s definitely bound to be an interesting series.
