Zom 100: A Fresh and Colorful Take on The Zombie Genre

If a zombie apocalypse happened today would you be ecstatic because you realize that you don’t have to go to work anymore?

Let’s say that you manage to survive day to day. What would you want to cross off that bucket list that you’ve had for so long?

Welcome to Zom 100, a brand new anime based on the manga written by Haro Aso and illustrated by Kotaro Takata where a zombie apocalypse might actually be a good thing?!

Zom 100 starts with our main character, Akira Tendou, a 24 year old man who recently got a corporate job working as a commercial writer and producer.

Everything seems to be going well at first until he has to work two days in a row straght with no paid overtime.

Akira realizes that he ended up getting recruited into an exploitative (or black) company and is basically stuck there for life.

Akira ends up working there for the next three years and dreads even the thought of going to work.

There’s no color in his life anymore, he’s pretty much dead inside until one day something insane happens on his way to work.

A zombie apocalypse breaks out and at first Akira is scared, shocked, running away from the zombies in fear, you know? The normal reaction someone would have to zombies.

But then, Akira realizes that he doesn’t have to go to work from this day forward and he yells in excitement as the color comes back into his life.

The episode basically ends with our main character starting to write his bucket list of 100 things he wants to do before turning into a zombie.

I genuinely enjoyed the first episode of Zom 100: Bucket List of The Dead

The production quality is absolutely amazing and it might have the best first episode of the current anime season.

It feels fresh and I’ve never really seen anything like it in terms of the zombie/dystopian genre of shows and series.

I plan on staying anime only for this series and can’t wait to see what happens next week when the new episode drops.
